Simulcast Feature from Oaklawn Park
A competitive field of eight have been entered for Thursday’s feature at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas, a $57,000 allowance race for fillies and mares four-years-old and up, going 1 1/16 miles on the dirt. Florida-bred Tapit’s World, a four-year-old filly by Tapit has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite. Making her 2014 debut, she was competitive at this level throughout 2013, getting on the board in five of six starts last year, and picking up a pair of wins.
Favorite has been facing good fields
The last of those came three starts back at Churchill, where she tracked the early pace before taking the lead after three-quarters of a mile and then pulling away to win by more than three lengths. Since then, she’s finished fourth and third, the last behind a second-place finisher who has already come back to win. Second choice in the ML at 3-1 is Arnie’s Dini, fourth in her last start at Oaklawn, and who would be looking to find the winner’s circle for the first time since 2012, when she was running competitively at the graded-stakes level.
Others could move forward on form
Others hoping to have a say in the outcome include Transcontinental (9-2), who has hit the board in 11 of her last 13 races, with a win three starts back and a second last time out at this level at Churchill in November. Miss Squeal at 6-1 only has two wins in 12 lifetime starts, but she’s been running in stakes company recently, including a pair of Grade III events. Illinois-bred Our Domain has been in the money in nine of 15 lifetime, and comes into this off a win in the Bungalow Stakes last September at Fairmount.
